Rebases, Relines, Repairs

Broken, worn or ill-fitting dentures do not always need to be replaced. With an examination, we can often recommend rebases, relines or repairs to prolong the use of your denture. Rebasing can be done if the teeth are still in good condition but the base is worn and requires additional material be added to restore stability. Relines are common and can help improve the fit of your existing denture. Frequently, relines need to be completed several months after an immediate denture insert, once your gum tissue has healed and swelling has decreased. Other cases involving weight loss, bone or tooth loss, aging, disease or illness may cause dentures to loosen or change in fit. By adding additional material to the base, a comfortable and custom fit can be achieved. Most repairs can easily be completed in a day. Some may require more extensive work or materials. Dentures requiring repairs may be chipped, cracked or broken, either from wear and tear or accidents. In some instances we may be unable to repair some damage and will let you know about other options.
